Season Two: Featured Crew Bios

Steve Schmidt – Editor

Steve Schmidt’s varied career includes the Hollywood blockbuster, The Chronicles of Riddick, the cutting edge series Dead Like Me, and the critically acclaimed Showtime documentary Beyond Gay: The Politics of Pride.  Steve is also the award winning writer/director of the feature film, The Road to Tophet.  He studied English and Theatre at the University of Toronto, attended the Vancouver Film School and studied Digital Post, at Trebis, Vancouver.  


Alvin Sun – Cinematographer

Alvin Sun is a cinematographer based in Toronto, Canada.  He’s spent many years as a Gaffer, Key Grip, and Camera Assistant on project’s like CBC’s Baroness Von Sketch Show and commercials for Acrua to RBC and Apple, among a myriad of other works.  He now uses his knowledge and experience crafting images in his pursuit of creating images as a cinematographer.


Danny Colomby – Composer

Danny Colomby has been composing and producing music for television and radio since 1988.

As a multi instrumentalist and techno-geek, Danny’s musical interests span a variety of genres, from classical symphonic to jazz, grass roots to rock, ethnic to EDM, and everything in between.

Among a handful of awards won over the last 3 decades, Danny is most recently recognized for his collaboration with North Bay fellow multi-instrumentalist Peter Cliche in creating the Gemini nominated soundtrack for the popular reality TV series ‘Survivorman.’

Danny’s music productions, through his company ‘Colombyan Music’, have been heard on CBC, CTV, Global, TSN, HGTV, WFN, ABC U.S., and many other cable networks in the U.S. and around the world.

Danny has taught creative sound courses for the film and video departments at both Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto, and at Canadore College in North Bay.

Danny continues to stay busy as both music composer and producer for media while also maintaining his love for live performance as a local bassist. “As long as I have high speed internet, I‘m only ever a button push away from my next collaboration!”


Byron Martin  – Executive Consultant – Business Affairs

Byron A. Martin is an award-winning producer who develops independent film, television and documentary projects. To date he has produced almost 100 hours of television, filming projects in sixteen countries. He has produced projects for Disney, Sony, Universal, Turner, Bell Media, DHX and Crown Media. Byron has managed productions for some of Hollywood’s leading producers (Jerry Bruckheimer, Sam Raimi, Lauren Shuler Donner, Raffaella De Laurentiis, Mark Canton, Dick Wolf, Laurence Mark, John Singleton, Ralph Winter and Don Carmody). Most recently, Corporate Vision Magazine honoured his company with a Canadian Business Award naming it “Best Canadian Producer 2019”.


Norm Marion – Post – Production Supervisor

“A film veteran now working exclusively in Northern Ontario in Post-Production, Norm is also currently a Professor in Canadore College’s Post-Production Program. It is here where he shares his love
and passion for post-production with the next generation of young
filmmakers. Norm established Sawasquirrel, a post-production facility located in
North Bay, to service and supports the complete post-production workflow
and all post-production needs. He is also an expert user and certified
Davinci Resolve Trainer as well as a certified Avid Media Composer
instructor.

Season One: Featured Crew Bios

Julian Francis AdderleyJulian Francis Adderley – Co-producer / editor / composer

Julian Francis Adderley is a producer and editor from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He received his Avid Certification for Editing in Post-Production at the Vancouver Film School in 1996 and graduated from the Sheridan College Media Arts program with a Diploma of Applied Art in 1998. That same year he garnered the Can Pro Independent Producer’s Award for Excellence for his production of the short film The Lesser King.

He has worked on a wide range of projects throughout his career for such well established clients as Corus Entertainment, Global Television, CTV, Nikon, Grey Canada and Lions Gate Films. He has written, produced and edited promotional ad campaigns and commercials for KIA Motors and TVA Films through TVAccess Productions where he also supervised staff schedules and project assignments in both the Senior Editor and Edit Supervisor roles.

As a freelance producer his work has been featured in a variety of film and television festivals including the Just For Laughs comedy festival and the Tribeca Film Festival. He was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for his work on the documentary news series 16×9: The Bigger Picture for Global Television.

He recently Produced and Edited the trailer for the award winning animated film Angela’s Christmas for 9 Story Media Group, Netflix and Brown Bag Films and is currently the Supervising Editor & Content Workflow Specialist for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment.


Russ GoozeeRuss Goozee – Cinematographer

Russ is one of Canada’s most prolific and in-demand cinematographers. Beginning in the 1990’s with the acclaimed “Universal Soldier” series of feature films, Russ has travelled the world shooting dozens of features, television series, commercials and television movies. Russ is currently the Director of Photography on the hit Hallmark series “When Hope Calls.”


Stephanie BairdStephanie Baird – Line Producer

Stephanie Baird is an actor slash producer, writer and director that has earned the title of “highly-efficient machine” from her peers. She graduated from Randolph College for the Performing Arts (formally RAPA), where she spent two years acting, singing, and dancing her way to a diploma.
Since graduating, Stephanie has been working professionally in film, television and theatre across the province building numerous credits in all of the above. Her projects have gone on to appear and win awards at numerous festivals from Toronto to Spain. Most recently, Stephanie has made her film writer/director debut with the short “Baby Making 101” which is set to be released in Spring 2020.
When Stephanie isn’t working – she still works – but on different things, like discovering new social media hacks, writing, and taking too many pictures of her dogs.


Justin BuyukozerJustin Buyukozer – Production Designer

Justin has a Bachelor’s with Specialized Honours in Devised Theatre from York University (Toronto). As a Designer: Festival IV (Vanier College Productions), Urinetown: the Musical (StageWorks), Sleepwalk (Chris Di Staulo), The Harrowing (Clock Tower Productions), SPAWN (rEvolver, SummerWorks). Art Department: The Hotel Room (Property Master), My Roommate’s an Escort (Production Designer), Babymaking 101 (Property Master). As a Director: The Harrowing (Clock Tower Productions), Shrek the Musical (Vanier College Productions), My Favorite Year (Vanier College Productions). His performing experiences include performer and co-founding member of Only the Weak Improv and Sketch Comedy Company, StageWorks Toronto: Ensemble in Parade, Officer Barrel in Urinetown: the Musical. For Vanier College Productions: Vanier Improv Company (Vanier Improv Company), Sam Truman in Lips Together, Teeth Apart, Gangster One in The Drowsy Chaperone, Bobby in Cabaret, Chorus in Reefer Madness: the Musical, Ryan in Secondary Wishes: a Musical Comedy.
