Katie and Trish meet at a mutual friend’s birthday party. The two actresses bond over a bottle of wine and their desire to create strong female-driven content. They set out to write their own show!


mraeThe Next Day…

Katie and Trish meet at a local coffee shop and start brainstorming ideas from online dating to living with roommates, both of which they have A LOT of experience with, unfortunately! They quickly start developing a comedy about two polar opposite roommates who influence each other’s lives, for better or worse.


trishOver The Next 7 Months…

Katie and Trish do the “Side Hustle Shuffle.” They work their respective day jobs, while using all spare hours of the day and night writing and rewriting the series.


escirtJuly 2016…

Katie and Trish launch an Indiegogo Crowdfunding Campaign to raise money to shoot the series. Through hard work, courage (and a complete lack of shame!) they raise over $25,000! At the same time, they write, shoot, edit and release the series prequel, which introduces the lead characters, Heather and Kesha.adrenaline Julian Adderley (CSA Nominee) comes on board as producer and editor.

Joey Nixon from Adrenaline Toronto puts the crowdfunding campaign over the tipping point with a very generous donation and becomes the first series sponsor and executive producer. Thank you, Joey!!!


August 2016…

davidDavid Carruthers (Orphan Black, Murdoch Mysteries) sees the prequel on LinkedIn. He immediately reaches out to Katie and Trish and comes on board as a major sponsor and executive producer. Thank you, David!!! David has worked in film and television for over 20 years as a 1st AD and line producer, and brings with him a wealth of production experience.


ptSeptember 2016…

Stephanie Baird, just coming off a successful launch of IRL the Series, which was picked up by Bell Media, bumps into Katie and Trish at a TIFF event. She brings her insights of digital content and cross-platform distribution strategies to the show and joins as production manager and line producer.

Award-winning cinematographer Russ Goozee (CSC) joins the team as Director of Photography, bringing his great talent and collaborative spirit to the show.

During the Toronto International Film Festival, Katie and Trish host a black-tie red carpet gala at Wallace Film Studios in support of the Indiegogo Campaign. Attended by over 250 guests, the event is a huge success and puts the crowdfunding campaign over its goal!

My Roommate’s an Escort goes into pre-production, embarking on the thrilling adventure that is scheduling, obtaining permits and budgeting.


slateNovember 2016…

After nine months of dedication, perseverance and hard work, Katie and Trish are filled with joy and gratitude when principal photography for the series begins on Saturday November 5, 2016. The 5 day shoot wraps on Wednesday November 9, 2016, and is a tremendous success. The post-production process, including editing, colour correction, sound design and scoring, begins immediately. The series is now on track for release in 2017!
